Top Ten Tuesday: New-to-me authors in 2016

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday focuses on authors whose work I’ve read for the first time this year.

As is often the case, my list is in no particular order. Please click on the book covers for reviews and/or synopses, and on the authors’ names to learn more about them.

Kathleen Grissom

I read both of these books, which are not standalones, back to back and thoroughly enjoyed them. Grissom brought to life a part of America’s history that seems to be overlooked.

Virginia Baily

“Early One Morning” is easily one of my favorite reads of 2016. 

Noah Hawley

Not one of my favorites, but Hawley is a gifted storyteller. I look forward to seeing what else Hawley has in store for readers.

Sophie Hannah

I hope Agatha Christie would be proud of the way Ms. Hannah is bringing new life to one of her most beloved crime-solving characters.

 

 

 

Emma Cline

“The Girls” is historical fiction like I’ve never read before.

 

Marcus Zusak

Books don’t often make me cry. I was ugly-crying at the end of this one.

Laura McHugh

Don’t even act surprised that Laura McHugh is on this list! ICYMI, I met her last week …

Of all the books I’ve read this year, this one has had the greatest impact on me.

I just can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed Jennifer Ryan’s debut novel, due for release in February.

Scott Kauffman

This was only the second time I’d ever accepted an author review request. My first experience was anything but impressive, so I didn’t know what to expect from this one. I was hardly disappointed, though.
