This week’s Top Ten Tuesday focuses on authors whose work I’ve read for the first time this year.
As is often the case, my list is in no particular order. Please click on the book covers for reviews and/or synopses, and on the authors’ names to learn more about them.
Kathleen Grissom
I read both of these books, which are not standalones, back to back and thoroughly enjoyed them. Grissom brought to life a part of America’s history that seems to be overlooked.
Virginia Baily
“Early One Morning” is easily one of my favorite reads of 2016.
Noah Hawley
Not one of my favorites, but Hawley is a gifted storyteller. I look forward to seeing what else Hawley has in store for readers.
Sophie Hannah
I hope Agatha Christie would be proud of the way Ms. Hannah is bringing new life to one of her most beloved crime-solving characters.
Emma Cline
“The Girls” is historical fiction like I’ve never read before.
Marcus Zusak
Books don’t often make me cry. I was ugly-crying at the end of this one.
Laura McHugh
Don’t even act surprised that Laura McHugh is on this list! ICYMI, I met her last week …
Mark Batterson
Of all the books I’ve read this year, this one has had the greatest impact on me.
Jennifer Ryan
I just can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed Jennifer Ryan’s debut novel, due for release in February.
Scott Kauffman
This was only the second time I’d ever accepted an author review request. My first experience was anything but impressive, so I didn’t know what to expect from this one. I was hardly disappointed, though.
Are any of these authors on your list? If you participated in this week’s TTT, please share your link in the comments below.

I’m loving the wide selection on your list – Sophie Hannah has written some fabulous books – my favourite is A Game For All the Family which is a standalone.

Glad to see Emma Cline on your list – she’d be on mine too. Can’t wait to see how she develops! 🙂

I found The Girls really interesting – I liked it and yet somehow it felt a little strange. Will definitely read whatever she comes out with next, though. I really really need to read The Book Thief!

It definitely was strange…kinda shed more light on what actually happened with Charles Manson and his followers. It’ll be interesting to see what else she has up her sleeve.
And yes, you absolutely must read “The Book Thief!”

I read The Book Thief several years ago and really enjoyed it. I’m hoping to read Zusak’s I Am the Messenger soon! I haven’t heard of most of these authors, actually, so I may have to go look into their books 🙂

Love this… I just started reading The Book Thief this week because Carter was reading it. I thought it was as bit mature for him and wanted to discuss to see if he actual read it. Lucas and I want to read Zookeepers Wife, before the movie comes out this spring. We both love WWII historical fiction. Interesting collection of books. The Grissom books sound good, might need to grab those.

Yeah, “The Book Thief” is pretty heavy stuff but might be OK for him if you guys talk about it. I haven’t head of “The Zookeeper’s Wife”…I’ll have to check that out. “The Kitchen House” books are pretty fascinating…the first one starts kinda slow but it definitely picks up.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! 🙂
